in Poland
The Drawa River is one of the most beautiful Polish canoeing routes and the most popular place for canoeing trips in West Pomerania. It is named after Pope John Paul II who paddled it several times. Very clean water, picturesque lakes and diversified river sections attract kayaking enthusiasts from all over Poland. Drawa is neither too difficult nor too burdensome, although there are mountain rapids, water rapids which force to carry the canoe, periodic obstacles and blockages as well as trees fallen across the riverbed. Drawa is an ideal river for weekend canoeing trips for families with children and also for canoeists who like multi-day trips from the source to the mouth of Drawa. However, you have to remember that below the lake Wiry there is a military training ground where you cannot paddle without permission. Planning canoeing rally on whole Drawa you should organize in advance transport allowing to take you through closed for tourist traffic section of river. Drawa National Park through which Drawa flows is one of the most popular stages of canoeing route especially during weekends. If we want to avoid masses of tourists not infrequently creating congestion on the fallen trees in the riverbed, it is best to plan the canoeing trip in such a way that it passes through the Park on weekdays. Equally important thing while planning Drawa trip is to buy tickets to DPN earlier, because they are limited.
